Analysis

Synopsis:

House Bill 180 (HB 180) limits the amount that can be used from the Appropriation Contingency Fund to address emergencies declared by the Governor.

Analysis:

House Bill 180 (HB 180) amends Section 12-11-24 NMSA 1978 by limiting the amount that can be used from the Appropriation Contingency Fund when the Governor has declared an emergency. The bill removes the provision that, during a declared emergency, up to $750,000 can be appropriated from the surplus unappropriated money in the General Fund for each eligible and qualified applicant. Instead, the bill provides that during a declared emergency, no more than $750,000 in total can be appropriated per quarter of a fiscal year from the Appropriation Contingency Fund.
The bill also replaces statute references as they have been recompiled into new statute numbers.
