Relating to professional licensure by modifying a section of the Counseling and Therapy Practice Act to update definitions relating to education and experience requirements and extending the termination date of the Counseling and Therapy Practice Board. 


 HB 178 modifies certain sections of the Counseling and Therapy Practice Act. Experience requirements for supervising roles in alcohol and drug treatment have been restated to now state that for supervision roles the supervisor must have three years of work experience in the alcohol and drug treatment field. The new terms are , work experience. 
The definition of, counseling related field, has now been expanded to include degrees in human services and family services. The terms regulation and rules has now been truncated to just the term regulation. 
Other modifications to the Act are changes the expiration of the Board from July 1, 2021 to July 1, 2027 and the Board may operate until July 1, 2028. Upon July 1, 2028 the Counseling and Therapy Act is repealed.
