Senate Bill 387 (SB 387), relating to public schools, changes the community school framework. SB 387 renames the Community Schools Fund to honor Dr. Jeannie Oakes. 

 Senate Bill 387 changes the community school framework and renames Community Schools Fund. 
SECTION 2 amends Public School code in Community School Framework in Subsection A to read:
A. The community school framework shall ensure the use of research- and evidence-based strategies and best practices that support students, families and communities in ensuring student success, including integrated student supports that address students' noninstructional school barriers.
The paragraphs in Subsection A and Subsection B are deleted.
SECTION 3 amends Public School code to rename the Community Schools Fund in memory of  Dr. Jeannie Oakes. The fund is named the Dr. Jeannie Oakes Memorial Community Schools Fund.
Subsection A and B have “Dr. Jeannie Oakes memorial” inserted into the name of the Fund.
SECTION 4 provides this act will apply to the 2025-2026 school year and subsequent school years. 

 Senate Bill 387 in Section 22-32-6 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 2019, Chapter 198, Section 3) currently has many provisions relating to the community school framework and 
Section 22-32-8 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 2019, Chapter 198, Section 7) creates the Community Schools Fund. 

 Senate Bill 387 is substituted by the Senate Education Committee as follows:
The title is changed as follows to reflect a change in the amount of community school implementation grants.
RELATING TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS; CHANGING THE AMOUNT OF COMMUNITY SCHOOL IMPLEMENTATION GRANTS; RENAMING THE COMMUNITY SCHOOLS FUND IN HONOR OF DR. JEANNIE OAKES.
