Summary:
 This is a  (SB41) bill with specific appropriations for social work and mental health supervision, training and development through the Higher Education Department.  
Legislation Overview:
 Synopsis: The bill (SB41)  proposes that certain dollar amounts to be appropriated from the general fund to the Higher Education Department for expenditure in fiscal year 2025 for the social work supervision purposes. These are appropriations outlined for specific purposes.
Analysis: The following sums are to be provided for the purposes outlined in the bill. 
(1) one million nine hundred ninety-two thousand dollars ($1,992,000) to have twenty-four social worker supervisors located at all public post-secondary educational institutions statewide, at the largest community colleges and at Native American post-secondary educational institutions. 
Further, (2) two million two hundred six thousand six hundred dollars ($2,206,600) to have thirty-four case managers located at all branch colleges, remaining community colleges and Native American post-secondary educational institutions; (3) one hundred forty thousand six hundred dollars ($140,600) for supplies and equipment for the social worker supervisors and case managers.
(4) fifty-four thousand dollars ($54,000) for professional development, training and licensing for the social worker supervisors and case managers; (5) four million three hundred ninety-three thousand two hundred dollars ($4,393,200) for the development and implementation of a statewide higher education mental health system.
(6) one million six hundred six thousand eight hundred dollars ($1,606,800) for regular mental health training for resident assistants, staff and faculty at public post secondary educational institutions; and (7) two million dollars ($2,000,000) for the San Fe Community College for a statewide suicide prevention and training program. 
Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2025 shall revert to the General Fund

SECa/SB41: The Senate Education Committee amendment adds mental health supervisors to the list of supervisors located at all public post-secondary educational institutions statewide, at the largest community colleges and at Native American postsecondary educational institutions.
