Senate Bill 264 (SB 264) amends various fees and the basis for certain fees; allows for fee increases based on inflation; extends the sunset date of the spay and neuter program fee; repeals certain laws; and makes appropriations.Legislation Overview:
Senate Bill 264 (SB 264) increases certain game and fish licensing fees. Section 25-1-5 NMSA 1978 is amended to allow the State Game Commission to increase the fees based on inflation. A discount is provided on fees for residents who receive supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits. Fees are increased to fund the Workers' Compensation Administration. Certain fees collected by the Department of Environment are changed from a dollar amount to reasonable administrative costs. Fees to be collected by the Environmental Improvement Board will be based on the administrative cost of the program. The sunset date of the spay and neuter program fee is established as July 1, 2031. The following laws are repealed: A. Laws 1991, Chapter 185, Section 2 is repealed. B. Laws 2020, Chapter 69, Section 6 is repealed. C. Section 74-3-10.1 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 2000, Chapter 86, Section 5) is repealed.Current Law:
