Senate Bill 247 (SB 247) adds a new section to Public Schools requiring the Public Education Department to publish the results of the department-approved summative assessments for science, mathematics and English language arts. Senate Bill 247 adds in Public Schools a anew section of the Assessment and Accountability Act (Act) as follows: Section 1, Subsection A: - provides a definition of “summative assessment”. - requires the department shall publish the results of the summative assessments for science, mathematics and English language arts. - the department shall publish the results provided for in this section no later than September 1 of each calendar year; B. at a minimum, include the data specified in this subsection. C. publish the results in an easily accessible, user-friendly format through a website or web page managed and regularly maintained by the department and provide links to the website or web page on the home page of the department's primary website. Senate Bill 247 (SB 247)is substituted as CS/SB 247 by the Senate Health and Public Affairs Committee. The Title is changed to delete “assigning duties to the Public Education Department”. Section 1 is amended to delete Section 1 of SB 247, which adds a new section of the Assessment and Accountability Act, to insert CS/SB 247 Section 1, which amends the Assessment and Accountability Act as follows: SECTION 1 amends Section 22-2C-4 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 2003, Chapter 153, Section 13, as amended) in STATEWIDE ASSESSMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM--INDICATORS--REQUIRED ASSESSMENTS--ALTERNATIVE ASSESSMENTS--LIMITS ON ALTERNATIVES TO ENGLISH LANGUAGE READING ASSESSMENTS to insert Subsection E as follows: E. Before September 1 of each year, the department shall publish the results of the standards-based assessments required in Subsection B of this section in an easily accessible and user-friendly format through a website or web page managed and regularly maintained by the department. At a minimum, the results shall include: (1) the proficiency rates for each tested subject and grade reported by statewide, district and school level performance; and (2) the proficiency rates for each tested subject and grade reported by statewide, district and school level performance, disaggregated by student demographics, including: (a) race; (b) gender; (c) ethnicity; (d) tribal affiliation; (e) socioeconomic status; and (f) special education status.
