Summary:
 House Bill 246 (HB 246) amends Public Schools to change graduation requirements to require one-half unit of financial literacy prior to graduation.

 House Bill 246 (HB 246) amends Public Schools to change graduation requirements to require one-half unit of financial literacy prior to graduation. 

SECTION 1 amends Public Schools Section 22-13-1.1 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1986, Chapter 33, Section 5, as amended) to insert financial literacy in Subsection I(5):
for students who enter the ninth grade in the 2024-2025 school year and subsequent school years, one-half unit in financial literacy;

I(8) is amended to specify that for students entering the ninth grade in the 2024-2025 school year and subsequent school years, elective units shall total seven.

SECTION 2. APPLICABILITY.--The provisions of this act apply to the 2024-2025 school year and subsequent school years.
