Summary:
 Senate Bill 193 (SB 193) transfers twelve million five hundred thousand dollars ($12,500,000) to the Reading Materials Fund. 
Legislation Overview:
 Senate Bill 193 (SB 193) transfers twelve million five hundred thousand dollars ($12,500,000) from the General Fund (GF) to Reading Materials Fund for the purpose of the fund.  
Current Law:
 The Reading Materials Fund is a non-reverting state fund administered by the Public Education Department to assist public schools that want to change their elementary literacy programs to more science-based approaches that align with the science of reading as set out in that section of law. It also requires that a detailed framework for structured literacy training be included in the district’s professional development plan seeking these funds.
