Summary:
  House 240 Bill (HB) 240 appropriates two million dollars ($2,000,000) to the Veterans' Services Department to contract with a veteran, police and first responder posttraumatic stress disorder therapy program.
The Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee requested the introduction of HB 240.
 
Legislation Overview:
 House 240 Bill (HB) 240 appropriates two million dollars ($2,000,000) from the General Fund (GF) to the Veterans' Services Department for expenditure for Fiscal Years (FY) 2025 to contract with a veteran, police and first responder posttraumatic stress disorder therapy program.
The Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee requested the introduction of HB 240.

Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY 2025 reverts to the GF.
 
Current Law:
 Veterans and first responders are people thrust into highly intense, life-threatening experiences that often produce psychological and emotional trauma  that can lead to depression and suicide.
The Veterans’ Services Department offers some programs for PTSD as do several private organizations. These programs have proven to provide immediate support and long term tools for veterans and first responders experiencing PTSD.
