Senate Bill 480 (SB 480) requires the Public Education Department to create an annual report of all students who are school-age and have not graduated from high school within four years from entering the ninth grade. Senate Bill 490 in SECTION 1 adds new section of the Public School Code to require an annual report of all out-of-cohort students. A. No later than July 15 after each school year, the department shall create a report of all out-of-cohort students who were enrolled in a public school during the preceding school year. B. The department shall provide the report to the institutions and eduction providers listed in this subsection that provide programming for out-of-cohort students attaining a high school diploma or high school equivalency credential. C. As used in this section, "out-of-cohort students" means school-age persons who have not graduated from high school within four years from entering the ninth grade.Amendments:

Senate Bill 480 is Substituted by the Senate Education Committee as SB 480a as follows: The title is changed to insert “upon request” for the requirement to provide a report. SB 480a amends SECTION 1 of the Public School Code in the ANNUAL REPORT OF ALL OUT-OF-COHORT STUDENTS as follows: Subsection A has inserted “of the directory information” in the requirements of the department report. Subsection B specifies the department shall provide the report “upon request”.
